A Season to Rejoice
Adri presents a new granddaughter to Nana and Bompa on Sunday January 11. Miri is 18 days old and very sweet.

A Season to Protect
Kevin and Jared take off with the KC 135. They practice several touch and go's.Jared will be deploying to Afghanistan on January 19. He will fly his crew over in the plane they will be using for their missions.
A Season to Share Life
Kevin and Jared fly the KC-135 simulator around Washington state in the fog. For the grand finale, they flew the refueler under San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. Sharon and Elena supervise from behind.
A Season for Family "Coffee Time"
Starbucks is a Family Thing. Jared is enjoying a cup of coffee with his wife, daughters, and parents. Washington State is the birthplace of Starbucks. Elena gets a cup of whipped cream. Jared studies at this spot each week. Adri loves to read a book while sipping her beverage.
A Season to Celebrate
"I'm going to be a Big Brother!" Michael David informed us this week that he will be a big brother in August. Both he and the new baby will be able to say they were born in Germany.Monday, January 5, 2009

What a wintery December and January we have had. Almost weekly blowing snow has kept our snow shovels busy. Wish you could join us for hot cocoa in front of the fire.

FOR UNTO US
FOR UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN
Adri and Jared gave us a new granddaughter a few minutes ago. Our Christmas granddaughter does not have a name yet. She joins her two year old sister Elena. We are anxious to get acquainted with her, learn her name, and get some pictures to share. Jared and Adri have a blog, which is available in the right column of our blog. Eventually they will be sharing more information about their growing family.
Jared will deploy on February 2nd. Kevin and I are planning to visit them in January.
Christmas with Perry in Las Vegas
Perry is flying the Predator on a simulated mission. He has found an enemy tank (the orange object in the middle of the upper screen). Note that his left hand is on the throttle control that will fire the Hellfire Missile.
Mission Accomplished!
Kevin is quite tickled with himself. Together, he and Perry have just popped the top off of the enemy tank. On the Predator simulator, Kevin controlled the cameras and pinpointed where the Hellfire Missile should penetrate the tank. Perry, the pilot, actually fired the missile.
Military Interior Design
This is the drapery in Perry's office. It is a safety drape that will protect from glass shards in case of an attack.

Hellfire Missile
The Predator has a Hellfire Missile on each wing. The Predator wing was lengthened about 36" to accommodate this extra weight. When you read in the news about a terrorist being taken out by a Predator, this is the weapon used.
